Bodega Bay Bash Updates – September 14, 2016
- Saturday and Sunday Intro to Kayak Surfing clinics will meet dressed and ready to paddle at 9:45 AM in the main Dillon Beach parking lot.
- Saturday and Sunday High Performance Surfing Clinics will meet dressed and ready to paddle at 10:00 AM in the main Dillon Beach parking lot.
- Make sure your surf kayak has grab tails, not loops.
- If you plan to try a composite surf kayak, bring Jackson Happy Feet or foam to help with outfitting.
- Everyone planning to demo a sit-on-top kayak, must sign a California Canoe & Kayak waiver.
- Friday though Sunday there is a major race at the Sonoma Raceway. If you are coming from the Valley via Highway 37, please plan accordingly.
- You will need $8 to park at Dillon Beach even if you have a campsite at Lawson’s Landing.
- If you need additional parking for your campsite, there is free parking in town on Oceana Drive.
- There are no showers at Dillon Beach.

Come join members of the West Coast tribe for a celebration of kayak surfing! Surf specific kayaks, sea kayaks, whitewater kayaks, and waveskis welcome. Bodega Bash is open to all levels. Bring your friends and family to share in the fun!
All events will be held at Dillon Beach. If conditions are not appropriate at Dillon Beach, an alternative break may be selected for surfing; however, camping will remain at Lawson’s Landing. The organizers plan to arrive Friday night and camp until Sunday.
Campsite Information and Reservations
Lawson’s Landing Campground is now taking reservations. Most festivities will occur on Saturday and Sunday, but please feel free to come early and stay late. Saturday and Sunday, from sun up to sun down, we will be surfing our hearts out at Dillon Beach. It is a free surf so we are welcoming all paddlers of all levels to catch waves and have fun! While resting on the beach, watch and learn as US West Team hopefuls prepare for Worlds 2017, err have fun surfing.
Introduction to Kayak Surfing – SATURDAY and SUNDAY CLINICS FULL
Interested in learning to kayak surf? Kelly Henry, Bill Vonnegut, and Mike Kowalsky will be teaching an Introduction to Kayak Surfing clinic on Saturday and again on Sunday. This clinic will cover some fundamental skills, surf zone safety and etiquette. No experience necessary. Dagger Kaos kayaks and paddles will be generously provided by California Canoe & Kayak. You are required to supply your own personal kit including a wetsuit or drysuit, PFD, and helmet. Start time will be announced the week before the event. High Performance Kayak Surfing – SATURDAY and SUNDAY CLINICS FULL
Want to take your surfing to the next level? Sean Morley, Mat Hoff, and John Bonaventure will be offering a high performance surf clinic. During this clinic, Sean and Mat will demonstrate and coach you in techniques such as the take-off, bottom turn, cut backs and re-entries. Participants in this clinic should have solid paddling skills and a reliable combat roll in surf. You will need to supply your own boat and kit including a PFD and helmet. This clinic will be offered Saturday and Sunday. Start times will be announced the week before the event. Saturday Night Bonfire

Dillon Beach is situated at the southern end of Bodega Bay in northern Marin County. This picturesque beach break is a favorite spot for paddle surfers due to the lack of crowds and relatively moderate conditions.
